My name is Larissa Green. I have been told that my name means love warrior and it is with this meaning and because of my love of food and the earth that I came to lovegreenfood; a philosophy that is about cooking and eating with consciousness.
The personal and global circumstances I found myself in made me become more aware of the way food affected myself and the environmental problems we are facing on the planet. I realised I had to start making changes in my lifestyle, especially health related dietary changes and that I had to give more consideration to the environmental implications of where my food came from or where the waste associated with it was going.
I experienced first hand how difficult it can be to make these types of changes, especially changing the old habits and challenging perceptions about food that we are bombarded with everyday. I looked at what I needed to fix and how I needed to fix it, whether for myself or for the planet and I kept coming to the same conclusion: we need to be cooking and eating with consciousness.
The underlying essence of this on a practical level is “organic and sustainability”.
Food for me is life and I believe that what we put in our body either supports or detracts from our general health and well being. I am passionate about clean and organic food. I believe that we should keep our food as ‘alive’ as possible by really being conscious of how we prepare our food. I also love food from many cultures and I am inspired by age old recipes and modern fusion flavours.
We are destroying our natural food resources through mono-culture farming, depleting our soil’s nutrients and polluting our ground water with toxic chemicals. We are destroying many of the beneficial qualities in our food as well as polluting our bodies through the intense processes food goes through before it gets to our plates for consumption. By eating clean, organic and homemade food, all these concerns disappear.
Many people ask me if I am a vegetarian. I am not. However, I eat very selective organic meat, and fish from sustainable populations and only when my body asks for it.
Each individual is different and there are many philosophies and sciences about how one should eat and take care. This is why I say listen to your body first and make informed decisions about the path for you.
I aim for 100% ORGANIC and chemical free in my food, home and cleaning products, clothing, body care and for my pets.
I encourage you to take one step at a time and enjoy.
I wish you all a good, clean and ORGANIC life
With love,
